Job Description

Position to be located either at our Washington Township or Northville location.

This position is within the Finance Business Unit, Finance Department, Cost Engineering Group.


  • Establishment and continuous development of a group wide technology-specific knowledge base

  • Definition and continuous development of group wide Cost Engineering Reference-processes

  • Continuous development and implementation of a technology-specific cost structure analysis throughout the entire product lifecycle (including the establishment of a technology-specific knowledge base)

  • Functional development of tools in Cost Engineering (e.g. technology-specific fast calculators)

  • Generation of Best-Practice-Product Cost Calculations considering a Total Cost approach

  • Support of Product Cost Engineering and the cross functional team (e.g. SE Simultaneous Engineering team) during the Product Development Process with specific Technology know how for Concept evaluations and Product benchmarks

  • Execution of internal and external Manufacturing process validations (Brown-Field examinations) and evaluation of the Cost performance in the Commodity Electromechanics & Assemblies

  • Direct responsibility for the demonstration and negotiation of Cost structures, based on Best Practice Cost calculations, with suppliers and customers

  • Identification of measures for optimization of Cost structures

  • Quote- and Deviation analysis as well as the development of gap closure recommendations (commercial/technical) during the Sourcing Decision Process

  • Calculation of the Cost impact associated with technical changes

  • Execution of trainings (globally) within the CE organization for Technology Electromechanics & Assemblies

  • Single point of contact and Mentor within the CE-Organization for Technology Electromechanics & Assemblies

  • Managing and steering of international and cross functional projects

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least a bachelor's degree in engineering

  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in cost engineering

  • Specific knowledge about Cost and Manufacturing Technologies in Electro-mechanics & Assemblies(connectors, ECU housing, wire harness & Assemblies )

  • Willingness to continuously keep knowledge at a state of the art/best practice level

  • Distinct analytical capabilities, solution oriented, accurate and self-dependent way of working

  • Supportive, ability to work in teams, strong communication skills in an international context and a high acceptance for travelling

Required Education and Experience

Studies of Engineering science or comparable studies

Experience and Skill Requirements

Minimum of 6 years work experience in a responsibility suitable for Cost Engineering (e.g. Production Engineering, Methods dept.)
