Grant Thornton LLP is seeking anaccomplished and highly motivated professional for the position of Public Policy Legislative Communications Manager. The position is located in Grant Thornton’s Washington D.C. office.

The Public Policy Communications Manager reports to the National Managing Principal of Public Policy (NMP) and is responsible for Developing and implementing the communication and marketing strategies for Grant Thornton’s legislative and regulatory initiatives


Core Responsibilities * Develop and implement public policy’s legislative communications and marketing strategies, including tracking reports, project management timelines and other weekly reporting for key activities. * Conceptualize and create compelling messages and stories that differentiate GT’s public policy. * Develop and nurture relationships with appropriate congressional communications staff. * Advocate for Grant Thornton’s positions across all platforms. * Develop collateral materials for Grant Thornton’s Public Policy initiatives, website and PAC. * Daily media monitoring. * Build and maintain advertising, sponsorships and events. * Plan and execute a variety of key firm meetings. * Maintain firm partner grass tops relationships. * Perform other related communications duties as assigned

Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public policy or English * Minimum 5 years of experience working in public relations, communications, public affairs or media relations * Minimum 3 years on Capitol Hill and strong understanding of Congress * Strong Marketing Skills * Demonstrated ability to write and edit content in a smart and compelling way * Strong knowledge of AP style * Experience in managing projects from inception to completion and measurement * Ability to translate complex business/financial materials into content that resonates with a general audience * Proficiency using advertising, sponsorships, events and social media as tools for engagement * Solid analytical and research skills, highly organized * Strong interpersonal communication and networking skills * Mature judgment, high ethical standards, willingness to learn and innovate * Political acumen, tact, confidentiality and diplomacy in handling various matters * Strong executive presence * Sound skill with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Founded in Chicago in 1924, Grant Thornton LLP (Grant Thornton) is the U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd., one of the world’s leading organizations of independent audit, tax and advisory firms.
