General Motors Color & Trim Define - Appearance Definition Lead - CRE0001232 in Warren, Michigan

The Appearance Definition Lead is assigned specific programs and projects for which to coordinate and document all color and material appearance attributes.

General responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain CTDAR document (Color & Trim Design Appearance Requirements) for specified programs
  • Coordinate milestone release of CTDAR on time to meet GVDP elements
  • Coordinate additional updates and release of document to support ongoing program changes
  • Work proactively to obtain and coordinate all color and materials appearance information specific to assigned programs
  • Work with various teams to confirm and communicate direction
  • Ensure appearance direction maintains design intent, brand strategies and color & materials strategies
  • Identify disconnects, support escalation and ensure timely resolution of issues pertaining to information
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of CTDAR document is maintained
  • Support program benchmarking process and develop comparison charts
  • Prepare appearance requirements for eSOR
  • Lead appearance definition meetings to support coarse to fine development of the CTDAR
  • Lead milestone assessments for appearance gate reviews, including virtual assessment
  • Coordinate gate review to request master ID’s
  • Support PPAP master readiness process
  • Support development of the overall CTDAR strategy document
  • Update and maintain the global CTDAR template
  • Support Color & Trim Define and Develop processes and actively participate in process improvements
  • Support appearance requirements during AAR and vehicle harmony review with Design Quality Launch
  • Support program execution activities with Design Quality Execution
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal Design, including Studio Design, Color & Trim Design and Design Quality
  • Develop strong cross functional relationships outside of Design with Program Teams, Engineering, Program Management, Materials Engineering and Marketing
  • Manage appearance maintenance for the life of assigned programs

Education:

  • Bachelor Degree with qualifications in Engineering, Design, Business or Communications (exceptions may be granted based on work experience)
  • Automotive industry / product experience working within design or engineering on vehicle interiors and exteriors
