General Motors Clay Sculptor - CRE0001239 in Warren, Michigan

General Purpose of Position:

Create clay models by developing aesthetic surfaces which meet time and quality requirements as directed by Sculpting Leadership for assigned programs. Work in a group situation, collaborating with Design and Engineering stakeholders and supportive studio personnel. Follow established modeling best practices and procedures while contributing to the execution of property plans.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

•Develop surfaces for physical clay models throughout the global vehicle development process

•Support studio personnel in the development of solutions to engineering and design challenges

•Support surface releases which meet Design approval, production engineering, and data release requirements

•Fundamental understanding of program timelines and all relating model quality requirements

•Adhere to common GM Global Design processes / best practices

•Attend appropriate program related meetings as defined by Sculpting Leadership

•Perform assessments of clay surface quality

•Adhere to corporate data management processes (TeamCenter, SharePoint etc.) and communication systems (timekeeping, email etc.)

Skills and Abilities:

•Highly developed level of creative proficiency

•Advanced knowledge in the use of creative clay modeling equipment

•Ability to interpret sketches and to translate Design input into 3D models

•Can successfully incorporate engineering criteria into a design theme

•Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others

•Good oral and written communications skills

•Basic knowledge in the use of current office software (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)

•Experience in a team lead capacity strongly preferred

Education and/or Training:

•Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent combination of education and industry related experience required.

•5-7+ years of related experience preferred.
