Active Driving and Autonomous Vehicles

Electrical controls, sensing and actuation are some of the fastest developingareas of automotive engineering. Active Driving and Autonomous Vehicles are allincluded in this rapid growth. General Motors is looking for exceptionalcandidates to lead the hardware/software development and implementationexecution into vehicles. The candidate will be responsible fordefinition of requirements, design, analysis, development, testing and managementof engineering project for electronic control modules and sensors where stronganalytical and problem solving skills, creativity, resourcefulness,adaptability, initiative and independent judgement are involved. Thecandidate will exercises technical direction over other engineers orengineering support personnel and may have work direction responsibilities overa small group with specific engineering objectives.

Active Driving and Autonomous Vehicles modules includes:

·LIDAR

·RADAR

·Camera

·Video processing modules

·Ethernet Switches

·Park Assist

Some specific tasks are highlighted below:

·DRE for components including all elementsof hardware and software

·Develops component technical specifications aswell as statement of requirements as required

·Leads formal design, peer, and quality reviews

·Leads resolution of technical issues and productdevelopment team meetings

·Leads/manages supplier resident engineers

·Primary GM engineering interface with thecomponent suppliers

·Intimate knowledge of hardware and softwareinterfaces

·Ensure all vehicle program imperatives (cost,timing, investment, and quality) are met

·Generates technical solutions for current, newand major programs

·Provides technical leadership for advancedtechnology development

·Travels as required

Required Skills

·2+ years of experience in electronic componentdesign

·Demonstrated performance in a position requiringengineering technical excellence

·History of success in applying advancedtechnology in complex systems

·High level of analytical ability where problemsare unusual and difficult

·High level of interpersonal skills to workindependently and effectively with others

·Demonstrated technical and professional skillsin job-related area required

·Appropriate interpersonal styles andcommunication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutualgoals required

·Knowledge of software development as itpertains to engineering preferred

·BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Scienceor equivalent

·High level of oral and written communicationskills

·MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Scienceor equivalent

·Experience with automotive electronic modulesand sensors

·Experience in computer vision, patternrecognition, machine learning (deep learning), artificial intelligence andimage processing

·Experiencewith computational platforms for machine vision and sensor fusion

·Experience in Design/Development of SafetyCritical Systems/Components

·Experience in automotive network protocols suchas CAN and Ethernet

·DFMEA training

·Electronic module Validation Experience

·DFSS Certification

·Software Controls experience
