JOB SUMMARY:

The Mortgage Specialist position provides support to operations and origination team members of the mortgage team, as well as provides financial information to management.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with financial accounting of the day-to-day of Mortgage team inclusive of:

  • Submitting debt to the accounting department for payment as it is received and monitor account balances, ensure that receivables are collected promptly, record cash receipts and make bank deposits, Conduct a monthly reconciliation of bank and credit accounts, conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy, issue regular financial statements to upper management, provide information to the external accountant who creates the company’s financial statements and maintain the chart of accounts

  • Assemble information for external auditors

  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

  • Complete the LDP and SAM checks as needed, and complete quarterly audits

  • Calculate loan officer commissions on closed loans and report them to HR monthly

  • Track and report Loan Officer hours to HR

  • Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested

  • Assist Human Resources with the onboarding of new origination and operations team members:

  • Create user accounts for various vendors, lenders, and software

  • Explain how to get headshots, business cards, marketing resources, etc.

  • Update phone lists, user lists with appraisal services and CRM providers

  • Track and perform government agency insuring of loans, including VA and FHA

  • Receive and prepare closed loan packages for the post-closing department

  • Provide weekly and daily reports related to the movement of loans through the pipeline for performance tracking purposes

  • Disburse and track referral sources as they arrive

  • Report team member referrals to HR monthly

  • Prepare Instructional documents for the company knowledge database “the Hub”

  • Track, upload, and deliver final documents on all closed loans, request overdue docs from title companies

  • Send out notice of servicing transfers on investor loans

  • Track and receive first mortgage payments when the purchase of an investor loan is delayed

  • Track the registration and transfer of every loan in MERS

  • Prepare and record mortgage related documents with various counties as needed

  • Conduct general point of contact duties with vendors, creditors, lenders, and software providers

  • Becomes/is an advocate of The Michigan First Way, supporting all facets of it, including complete fulfillment of Our Promise, 5 STARS Service, SOLVE IT and our ISMs. Fosters a positive demeanor and image through professional representation in all contacts with both, team members and members.   • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products is required, especially Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.

  • Strong organizational skills are required.
