Location: Denton Texas

  • Mission*

To minimize the negative environmental impact of municipal solid waste and capture for beneficial use or otherwise unused energy resource through to operation of a landfill gas (LFG) recovery facility and gas delivery pipeline in a manner which meets environmental regulations while optimizing the financial results.

Results are evaluated against set compliance, production and spending goals while adhering to policies and procedures and professional conduct always using safe practices in an environmentally responsible manner.

  1. Plan and execute maintenance for (1) CAT 3520 engine rated at 1.6 MW and corresponding gas collection system

  2. Operate equipment and manage assets in such manner as to achieve objectives regarding:

a. Routine operating expense

b. Major maintenance expense

c. Gross operating expense

  1. Achieve

a. On-stream rate of 97%

b. Capacity utilization rate (gas throughput as a percentage of available capacity) of 100% .

d. Maintain operating expenses with allocated budget

  1. Deliver monthly reports regarding plant operating performance, operating expenses, forecast of EOY production and EOY operating income.

a. Production report by the 5th business day

b. Financial report by the 15th business day

  1. Zero regulatory deficiencies for state regulatory inspections of the plant and air emissions
  • Principal Duties and Responsibilities*

  • Execute maintenance plan for plant while meeting desired outcomes.

  • Professional representation to landfill operator, customer, regulators, etc.

  • Quickly make un-planned repairs to restore operational capacity of plant. Unplanned plant outages may require attention at any hour of the day, including weekends and holidays

  • Operate facility as defined by various contractual obligations, including the gas rights agreement and gas sales agreement

  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs

  • Perform daily equipment inspections, test and operational checks

  • Collect oil, water, wastewater, gas and air samples for analysis

  • Investigate mechanical problems, recommend appropriate repair, replacement and enhancement

  • Support, assist and direct the work of contractors on-site

  • Maintain electronic facility logbook, highlighting activities and noteworthy events

  • Record operating data and maintain operating records including weekly production reports

  • Monitor each landfill gas collection point each month and tune as necessary to maximize quality and quantity.

  • Inspect landfill gas system collection system components for mechanical problems and make appropriate repairs

  • Diagnose and correct adverse gas field and plant conditions and malfunctions

  • Perform routine buildings and grounds maintenance and repairs \Maintain spare parts inventory and records

  • Maintain filing system for drawings, instruction books and manuals

  • Prepare preliminary annual operating budget

  • Make periodic forecasts of expected annual production and operating expenses

  • Implement the facility's Safety Procedures Manual and Job Site Conduct Book

  • Participate in monthly safety audits and inspections as identified in site safety manuals

  • Other tasks as assigned – including becoming a subject matter expert in an to-be-decided field

  • Job Requirements*

High school diploma or equivalent is required. You must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted state driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. A two year technical degree (Engineering Technology, Earth Sciences or similar) or a four year science degree (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology or similar) are preferable or equivalent work experience to provide for the following:

  • Experience with maintaining and maximizing production from industrial engines

  • Familiar with gas processing and/or gas transportation

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrument control systems

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment such as motors, blowers, controls and pumps

  • Ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop solutions and make or recommend sound alternatives

  • Experience with budgeting, construction, commercial agreements

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisor, management, customers, clients and vendors

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Working Conditions*

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Most work is within the vicinity of a municipal solid waste disposal facility. Employee will routinely operate a motor vehicle and/or ATV style off road vehicle on unimproved terrain.

Employee will be required to respond to plant upset conditions (call-outs) outside of normal business hours, work unscheduled overtime and may occasionally be required to travel to other work locations using personal transportation (travel expense reimbursed within policy limits).
