Stryker Manufacturing Engineer in Portage, Michigan
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, tooling and production equipment capabilities, fabrication processes, and assembly methods. Adheres to safety/ergonomic and quality control standards and follows directions and blueprints to meet specifications. Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of the ME specialization.
Identifies and implements safety/ergonomic improvements as a first priority.
Accountable for ensuring assigned processes and process changes are compliant and documented in accordance with Stryker procedures and applicable regulations.
Identifies sources of waste in production and implements changes to drive cost, quality and throughput improvements and supports production associates to do the same.
Evaluates the blueprints for the processing of parts in order to ensure manufacturability.
Partners with the materials group to drive inventory velocity.
Identifies and manages cost reduction projects in support of the division’s goals.
Supports new product development and helps ensure a smooth transition into production.
Assists in the coordination of new and existing machinery in the plant to assure proper material flow and efficiency.
Focuses on customer satisfaction through teamwork and empowerment, solving problems through a consultative approach, operating with honesty and integrity and providing a highly responsive and unsurpassed level of customer service.
Works under some supervision to perform work that requires evaluation, ingenuity, and originality.
Viewed as entry level engineer and team resource - developing subsystem level design, development, testing and refinement.

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
GPA of 3.0 or higher, strongly preferred.
Achieved a limited (learning) level of industry knowledge.
Strong mechanical aptitude, computer skills, financial training, interpersonal skills, time management, communications protocol, problem solving, technical writing skills.
Basic skills - Basic reading and math skills, and ability to adhere to safety related issues to include, but not limited to good housekeeping, ergonomics practices, documentation, and team concepts.
