Stryker Associate Maintenance Technician - 2nd shift in Portage, Michigan

2nd shift Associate Maintenance Technician (hours are 2pm - 10pm).

Responsible for providing maintenance & technical support to all manufacturing equipment relating to downs, repairs, projects and preventative maintenance. Responsible for the safe and efficient execution of planned and unplanned maintenance of equipment, in compliance with regulation & standards. Will support investigation & resolve of basic level technical issues.

  • Actively participate in cleanliness and 6S standards within maintenance area and maintenance team (includes desks, tool cribs, work benches, etc.)

  • Partners with site facilities team to ensure completion of various plant-wide tasks (moving, relocating, repairing, etc.)

  • Actively apart of a culture of safety, collaboration, positivity, and a can-do attitude for the team

  • Provide the utmost level of internal customer satisfaction to all production teams by means of production support, technical troubleshooting and communication

  • Troubleshoot and assess electrical problems, PLC diagnosis and circuit schematics

  • Assists in projects for cost, efficiency, maintenance metrics improvements

  • Assist in maintenance and facility related projects pertaining to continuous improvement, production and cost savings

  • Ensuring compliance with established regulatory and quality, legal, corporate, and human resources policies and procedures.

  • Work with minor direct supervision to accomplish technical production support tasks and troubleshooting

  • Assists in identifying, solving and communicating equipment related maintenance issues and downs

  • Support all of production equipment via troubleshooting and technical expertise

  • Completion of preventative maintenance on periodic schedules per documented procedures and work instructions, as business needs are demanded

  • Support team with completion of preventative maintenance teams, on all shifts

  • Partner with other maintenance technicians to complete small-scale improvements on equipment

  • Reaction and closure of maintenance work orders through maintenance software system

  • Diligent in supporting all equipment downs, repairs, projects, PMs and other work orders

  • Partner with manufacturing technicians and engineers to troubleshoot assembly tooling and fixtures, resulting in limited and minimized downtime

  • Partner with advanced operations as needed to complete one-off requests regarding prototypes, equipment set-ups, tooling and fixtures

  • Held accountable to applicable maintenance metrics and maintain standard and support areas of improvement, as business needs see fit

  • Completes various tasks as assigned


  • High School Education or Equivalent

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of metal fabricating processes (machining, welding, sheet metal forming, etc.)

  • 2+ years of relevant metal fabrication, manufacturing, process development, programming, equipment maintenance experience, PLC/Automation technician experience

  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Eagerness to assist internal and external customers

  • Knowledge of maintenance management software/programs

  • Possess attention to detail

  • Must be able to observe and note minute inconsistencies

  • Must be able to follow and explain detailed instructions and inspection procedures

  • Must be able to explain detailed documentation accurately

  • Must be able to communicate extraordinarily to many stakeholders and facets of the business including production, engineering, quality and upper-management
