Sr. Development / Validation Engineer

The Role:

Are you looking for a hands on engineering position in a team that effects every vehicle General Motors sells globally? If so, GM’s Global Transmission & Electrification (GT&E) Development and Validation team is looking for several experienced Sr. Development and Validation engineers to work on a variety of current and new products including transmissions, hybrid drive units, inverters, batteries and many other exciting products.


  • Lead special projects and develop / perform non-standard tests
  • Develop new test methods & procedures
  • Perform system modeling & duty cycle generation for accelerated tests
  • Support advanced engineering projects, benchmarking and BoD development
  • Awareness of industry trends in propulsion systems and latest test equipment
  • Define required design features to meet product requirements
  • Support root cause and resolution of concerns identified during testing and field issues
  • Mentor newer development / validation engineers
  • Interface with leadership, advanced engineering, design release engineers, calibrators, component test engineers, & technicians
  • Tie lessons learned and best practices back to the new products group and technical specialists
  • Support transmission and vehicle assembly plants as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably mechanical or electrical)
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Someone who challenges themselves and their peers
  • Enthusiasm & ability to solve complex technical problems that can be unusual and difficult
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity
  • High level of analytical & practical problem solving skills
  • Ability to think outside the box and challenge current processes

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced degree
  • Powertrain system development and/or validation experience
  • Familiarity with dyno testing and control
  • Calibration knowledge
  • ETAS Inca experience
  • DFSS Certification
  • Red-X experience
