Our mission at GM Global Propulsion Systems is to be the bridge between Manufacturing and Powertrain Engineering throughout the Global Powertrain Development process. Global Propulsion designs, develops, procures and implements efficient manufacturing systems, through standardize processes, to deliver world class propulsion systems, while keeping safety as our over – riding priority.
Responsible for specifying, procuring, running-off, and installing new or redeployed Plant Engineering equipment and manufacturing support systems for new and major powertrain product programs. Responsibilities also include specifying, procuring and overseeing all contracted engineering and labor resources required for installation of complete powertrain manufacturing systems. Assignments are of a technical nature involving a considerable amount of creativity and initiative as well as a high level of independent judgment.
Assume a leadership role in managing and complying with project timing, budget and safety performance
Manage all aspects of the project using the GM Project Management Process and Project Manager Software
Assist in the development and control of budgets and forecasts within assigned area
Direct the design of structural, electrical and mechanical systems and sub-systems
Coordinate the flow of information between departments and organizations within the plant, division and/or Corporation
Complete special studies and assignments
Participate in short and long range planning, estimating and scheduling
Primary liaison with others outside the work group
Lead and maintain bench mark safety and housekeeping standards
Maintain program documentation and compliance with policies and procedures
Stay current with product developments, technology and trends in areas of expertise and implement as appropriate
Actively identify new areas for learning and take advantage of learning opportunities
Review and evaluate manufacturing processes and support equipment.
Aid in the design, development and/or improvement of manufacturing process equipment.
Define, develop and maintain the plant engineering portion of the Bill of Process, Bill of Equipment and Specifications
Provide technical direction to engineering support personnel and outside vendor design sources.
Support and direct Global Facilities on building and process interface issues.
Support and interact with plant manufacturing operations as required
Assure compliance with all government and corporate environmental regulations
Coordinate engineering projects with plants
Work involves occasional instruction and training of a small group of employees
Availability to travel and spend time at remote job sites required

Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical preferred), Construction Management, or equivalent training
