Job Summary:

Provides guidance and work direction to training instructors and students. Provides overall coordination of assigned training programs to meet established schedules and maintain programs in compliance with regulatory requirements and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operation INPO guidelines and accreditation objectives and criteria. Identifies problems and seeks innovative solutions to improve organizational effectiveness and proactively resolve issues. Provides input to the budget and continuously seeks methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Implements the Human Performance and Corrective Action programs for Nuclear Training.

  • Accountabilities:*

  • Ensures all training activities are conducted in accordance with Nuclear Training procedures, work instructions and best industry practices.

  • Ensures all training facilities are maintained in a superior material condition and model industrial safety cleanliness and

  • foreign material exclusion.

  • Ensures training instructors obtain and maintain their technical and instructional knowledge and skills.

  • Interfaces with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission NRC and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) to ensure training programs are in compliance with current regulations.

  • Maintains instructor and technical qualification requirements.

  • Maintains the accredited Training Program Descriptions to ensure compliance with the requirements of the appropriate National Academy for Nuclear Training ACAD documents.

  • Manage the programs, personnel, contractors, contracts, purchases and resources necessary to effectively implement the training programs and stay within an annual budget.

  • Models and reinforces management expectations for industrial and nuclear safety, procedure adherence and training conduct for instructors and trainees.

  • Observes and evaluates instructor performance, trainee progress and course effectiveness to produce improvements in the accredited training program and client group performance.

  • Performs and/or supervises performance analyses and training needs analyses to resolve performance issues.

  • Primary responsibility for evaluating employee/program performance. This will include the hiring of personnel, training and development.

  • Responsible for overseeing the modifications of the training programs based on the line feedback, operating experience, industry guidelines, federal guidelines and changing industry conditions.

  • Supervises instructor application of the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation phases of the Systematic Approach to Training SAT process.

  • Verifies training activities are performed by, or under the supervision of, personnel who have completed applicable qualifications for the tasks to be performed.

  • Works with the line organization to identify performance deficiencies. Performs and/or supervises performance analyses and training needs analyses to resolve performance issues.



  • Minimum:*

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED

  • Five (5) years of Nuclear Power Plant experience in the specific discipline.

  • Preferred:*

  • Candidate should possess an additional three (3) years of instructor experience.

  • Ideal candidates will have previous supervisory experience in a commercial nuclear power plant setting.

  • Experience as a Fermi Senior Instructor preferred.

  • Must participate as an Emergency Response Organization ERO member and responds to call-ins as appropriate.

  • Computer Skills: MS Word, Excel and Power Point.

  • Must be able to pass all phases of In-Processing including a background investigation, psychological screening, appropriate radiation worker/respiratory training and be medically certifiable drug and alcohol screen.

  • Understanding of regulatory and industry requirements associated with implementing the technical training programs.

  • Proficient communication and presentation skills.

  • Must be able to effectively prepare and present classroom presentations.

  • Experience overseeing and using the Systematic Approach to Training process.

  • Experience in conducting performance analysis techniques.

  • Must meet regulatory requirements per Fermi procedures.
