Job Summary:

This position is located at the Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant.

Individuals will be mentored by experienced engineers including discussion on nuclear power plant basics, presentation skills, interview skills, and how to update resumes to document experiences from this position.

Responsible for preparing and updating of nuclear power plant design documentation including analysis of safety system adequacy, system configuration drawings, and system design descriptions.

Assists in preparing design modifications and changes.

May perform inspections on operable equipment with experienced engineers.

Communication with multiple engineering disciplines and organizations outside of engineering is required.

Required training for plant access and safety will be provided.

Work group would be aligned to one’s engineering discipline where possible.

Compensation: Wage determined by class standing

Job Status: Full-time (40 hours/wk) preferred, however a minimum of 16 hours/wk (during standard business hours, Monday - Friday) is required. The more hours a week a candidate is willing to work, the more opportunities that are available.

Work Environment: Office, lab, field and power plants

  • Must be a current student in an Undergraduate or Graduate program majoring in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Computer, Industrial, Petroleum, or related).

  • Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA.

  • Active in school while working as a co-op student or be considered an active student by the school, while employed with DTE

  • Preferred candidate will have taken core classes, but it is not mandatory to be eligible for the program.

  • Students are expected to have above average skills with Work, Excel and Power Point.

  • Students should possess good written and oral communication and organization skills

  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels
