We are seeking an experienced, motivated Software Engineer to support global propulsion systems. In this role, you will be responsible for definition of Basic Software requirements, software design, execution of design and analysis of engineering projects related to deeply embedded controller applications (including methodology and process implications). In addition, you will generate technical solutions for current, new and major programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, design, and develop software supporting memory management, processor integrity, and controller tasking & timing
  • Coding is done in C with GM Embedded Controls tool chain
  • Supplies common solutions across all GM In-House controllers
  • Documents requirements for design solutions and links them to test cases that can demonstrate software functionality
  • Will use automated test tools in build environments, benches, and vehicles to verify functionality at the Function, Controller and System level
  • Provides technical leadership for advanced technology development
  • Troubleshoots code to determine design deficiencies and develop solutions to resolve them
  • Coordinates and consults with departments outside engineering, such as Systems & Safety Engineering, Electrical Architecture

Required Skills and Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Proficient in C, C++ programming
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required with minimum 5 years of experience

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Preferred MS in EE, ME, or CS
  • Experience with GM Embedded Controls tool chain including IBM Rational Team Concert
  • Experience with bootloader, embedded OS, or memory management in automotive applications
  • Knowledge with AUTOSAR standards and methodology
