Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: Selects, develops, and supports electronic assembly processes using engineering tools and experiences. Manages projects through the involvement of engineers and technicians to obtain high quality, cost effective solutions to factory problems.

  • Leads and coordinates a department of process engineers and technicians to support new product launch and the existing manufacturing operation.

  • Develops project plans, schedules and budgets for department’s activity plans for supporting new product launches, existing production, and continuous improvement.

  • Establishes project schedules and defines resource requirements based on satisfying customer launch schedules.

  • Establishes the department budget and manages expenditures (expense, capital, and customer funding) to support launches, overall capacity increases, and continuous improvement.

  • Spearheads continuous improvement efforts for respective area.

  • Provides regular reports in both structured and non-structured formats on project status and issues.

  • Responsible for project resource management.

  • Coordinates department activities supporting new product launches as well as existing production.

  • Responsible for all process equipment/tooling, planning, procurement, installation, and acceptance.

  • Provide central point of communication with Operations with regards to quality and uptime performance.

  • Provides plant communication with GE program management on schedule/budget/DFM issues.

  • Acts as the plant representative or central point of communication with the customer with respect to their area.

  • Responsible for establishing and achieving overall process quality targets.

  • Responsible for providing technical direction and functional management of manufacturing engineers and technicians.

  • Requires minimum level supervision contact from manager

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Comply with and support the health, safety, and environmental programs, policies and procedures.

  • Defines/develops/initiates new process development for new products.

  • Initiates/leads development of existing manufacturing processes to drive improvements in quality, uptime, and cycle time.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering field required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience and Skill Requirements

•Minimum of eight years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Minimum of 3 years experience in electronics assembly/manufacturing.

•Previous knowledge of electronic product designs and manufacturing technologies preferred.

•Prior experience in customer interface at multiple levels and in multiple disciplines preferred

•Two to three years experience in project management.

•Experience in the development and execution of complex designed experiments (DOE’s) consisting of multiple factors and variables.

•Team leadership skills, project management skills, and the capability to communicate and influence senior management, design, and customers.

•Exceptional communication and project management skills.

•Training in Green Belt / Black Belt Six Sigma with practical experience.

•Familiarity with personal computing software (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio).
