Job Title Senior Mechanical Technician

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Engineering test support for new product development and customer validations for Electronic Braking Control Modules and Vehicle Electronic Control Units:

  • Oversee/execute product development testing, data analysis, product teardown, and generation of test reports

  • Execution of test procedures per customer specifications

  • Create test procedures for prototype development of new components/systems that meet internal/external requirements

  • Create test fixtures/equipment for product testing

  • Analysis of Parts and Components, including microscopic inspection of PC boards and related electrical or mechanical components.

  • Coordination of test planning and timing

  • Oversee and manage specialized test equipment including test script creation, test operation, and equipment maintenance

  • Manage and/or support supplier component engineering test processes and delivery

  • Interface with internal Engineering, Program teams and other departments

  • Prepare and give presentations on analyses performed

  • Customer/supplier interface and support, as required.

  • Use machine shop tools to modify/fabricate components and fixtures

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or 2-year equivalent technical certificate, along with a minimum of 6 years of direct experience.

  • Preferred Automotive-related experience or similar

Skills:

  • General lab instrumentation and calibration skills required (load cells, torque cells, pressure transducers, oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems)

  • Experience with LabVIEW, DIAdem, MATLAB, Visual Basic scripts, and Microsoft Office products

  • Experience designing and building test stands to meet product development requirements

  • Prototype fabrication, part assembly, and soldering

  • Understanding of and experience with metrology and associated measurement equipment (CMM, optical comparator, micrometers, calipers and various measurement gauges)

  • Knowledge and experience in electronics environmental and mechanical testing, data analysis and data manipulation

  • Knowledge of product development and design review process

  • Some CATIA or other CAD experience preferred, including creation of drawings and basic knowledge of GD&T

  • Experience with or knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, both practical and theoretical.
