Dart Container is seeking a SOLO Brand liaison to lead marketing efforts for some of our largest retail customers. We are looking for a proven multi-tasker with some solid CPG experience who can hit the ground running as a Customer Marketing Manager. In this role, you will work with our Sales team while supporting both Store brands and SOLO branded products to drive revenue for assigned customers by focusing on business plans, product development, robust analytics, customer marketing plans and execution.

Our SOLO marketing team is located in Lincolnshire, Illinois (just outside of Chicago). While the brand is mighty, we have a small department at this satellite location with a small-team feel. You will need to be capable of working independently within the Consumer Products team as each of our customers is different and unique. You will be responsible for maintaining these relationships and managing the “puzzles” that may arise in each of them.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Perform or coordinate classic customer-focused marketing functions to ensure business growth: including, but not limited to: category assessments, crafting sales stories for line reviews, quarterly business reviews, ecommerce, strategy development, developing annual customer-specific marketing plans, packaging or graphic changes

  • Guide product development projects through the workflow process from inception to completion. Projects include those initiated from the customer marketing plan, trade, customer or manufacturing driven

  • Use both primary research and syndicated data to understand Solo performance vs. competitors, identify changes in pricing, promotion, distribution and product introductions, consumer and competitive trends, and report out to Sales and management to support business decisions

  • Coordinate initiatives with the Brand team to ensure consistent communication and execution of Branded products and marketing objectives at specific customers

  • Build strong relationship with Sales and Customers by attending customer meetings as the marketing lead for assigned accounts

  • Serve as the Brand steward, product and customer expert while translating Brand initiatives into customer-specific strategies in order to drive customer and branded growth

  • Provide direction for and coordinate creative processes for customer-specific projects such as packaging graphics, sales materials, and on-trend product print designs

  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams charged with customer changes or new business opportunities

  • Monitor competitive activity to ensure Solo remains well positioned in the marketplace. Utilize trade publications, regular store walks, trade shows, etc. to become the customer expert

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field

  • Six (5) years marketing experience

  • Five (5) years of CPG industry experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience using Nielsen or IRI consumption data

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create professional reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain marketing issues

  • Demonstrated ability managing and leading cross-functional teams

  • Creative mind that can identify trends, provide intuitive recommendations and write compelling sales stories

  • Excellent strategic, analytical, organizational, project management and presentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize a heavy workload

  • Up to 10% domestic travel

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • MBA in Business or related field

  • Classical Product Management or a Customer Marketing discipline experience

  • Key customer management experience with Target or Walmart
