LGR operates out of a 3.4 million sq. ft. vehicle assembly plant with a 111-acre campus in downtown Lansing with over 1,900 employees.

Electrical Quality Engineer - Lansing Grand River Assembly

Description

Use Quality metric data to establish problem solving activity to enhance customer satisfaction. Establish quality standards to allow for assembly to meet customer satisfaction expectations.

Required

- Work with the suppliers and engineering to develop inspection standards for parts and subassemblies

- Work with supplier to improve their incoming quality, gauging and parts per million defects.

- Assist production in prevention of defect occurrence

- Coordinate periodic system and process audits at the plant and at suppliers

- Coordinate quality evaluation of new vehicles with engineering and production

- Develop and maintain Product Quality Standards for the plant

- Participate in the Change Management Process – coordinate engineering change implementation

- Support Supplier Quality Yard Sweeps (develop inspection method and standards)

- Coordinate Repair, Rework and Containment Activities for Identified Spills

- Create PDF's and gain approval to PRTS' though the CPIT Process

- Diamond 4 through 7 Problem Solving for All VOC Metrics through RC and ICA

- Support the PTR Process, documenting Product concerns. Material/Prod Control Facilitate, QE ME and PCC jointly support PTR activity

- Communicate Lessons Learned to SMT's and Validation Teams

- Assure attendance of commodity issues at respective Care, GCA, Launch Quality Reviews (support as required)

- Attend Appropriate Area Countermeasure Meeting

- Support DRL Initiatives

- Drive assigned Warranty and J.D.Power Reduction Initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

- Excellent Computer skills

- Knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems

- Mechanical aptitude and broad technical ability

- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

- High level of oral and written communications skills

- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

- Good understanding of Manufacturing Quality Systems

- Engineering degree or equivalent experience

- Must be willing to travel

- Must be willing to work afternoon shifts on a rotation basis within group

Preferred:

- Red X Apprentice

- Good understanding of SPC

- Experience with Vis Mock-Up

- Knowledge of PPAP requirements

- Familiar with 7-diamond process

- Work experience in lean environment

- Certified Quality Engineer

- Engineering Work Order (EWO)/Parts Release familiarity

- Plant floor experience

- Ability to diagnose and repair vehicle electrical issues

- Utilize electrical problem solving tools and software
