Position Description:

The Aftermarket Master Scheduler is a position that has responsibility for all aspects of material flow in ZF Lafayette’s Commercial Truck Steering Gear Remanufacturing business. The successful candidate will be able to manage and adjust plans based on known shortages, logistics risks, and will put in place a production plan that will be followed. This position will also be responsible for leading continued action plans to improve down time related to material flow. Further, this position includes interacting directly with customers to discuss their returned gear credits.

Position Requirements:

  • Create material forecasts (both raw and finished goods) based on history, market trends, scrap rates and other necessary inputs; measure the accuracy of the forecasts and implement accuracy improvement actions

  • Produce production schedules for all value streams inside of the Gear Remanufacturing Business Unit

  • Report compliance to schedule and inputs that lead to deviation

  • Drive recovery plan with suppliers as needed

  • Gear core management:

  • Manage expected core inventory based off historical and projected sales data

  • Manage current core suppliers and potential for additional core flow

  • Develop database of market core market values. Suggest core valuations in line with market to ensure adequate ZF core recovery

  • Monitor both lead times and cycle times in the process to ensure that material is flowing at the proper rate

  • Audit material flow procedures for compliance

  • Manage return eligibility:

  • Work with finance and customers to ensure timely and accurate reporting of eligibility

  • Supply customers with updated reports

  • Manage return eligibility and ensure proper availability of cores

  • Work directly with customers for core credit inquiries

  • Manage delivery and pack out plan for Reman value stream

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (business, engineering, materials management) required

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in materials management required

  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel required

  • Proven interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels in and outside ZF in a professional manner

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including ability to identify and resolve issues and challenges

  • Must be able to influence those not in direct chain of command

  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize projects

  • Must be effective in a team environment and be able to work independently

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills required

  • Strong dedication and commitment to quality customer service and satisfaction while following through on assigned projects

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • SAP experience preferred
