Stryker Manager of Corporate Development (Mergers & Acquisitions) in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Position profile

The Manager of Business Development will help assess and execute inorganic growth opportunities (predominately mergers and acquisitions) for the company. They will work on a range of topics, including target identification, due diligence, financial impact analysis, transaction execution, and corporate growth strategy. Over the last five years the BD team has led more than 40 M&A transactions representing more than $10B in invested capital. This role requires someone who is highly motivated combining exceptional quantitative skills, strategic thinking ability, communication skills, and project management and execution.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Network, research and perform in-depth market analyses to identify the most attractive sectors for Company expansion.

  • Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of the healthcare market including industry trends and emerging areas of opportunity.

  • Develop robust business cases and participate in decision making.

  • Conduct due diligence to support decision making by working with Stryker professionals across divisions and functional areas.

  • Conduct detailed valuation analyses including multi-scenario discounted cash flow analyses and financial impact analyses.

  • Support transaction execution including securing internal and external approvals.

  • Organize deal teams including division-based business leaders (e.g. Sales, Marketing), functional leaders (e.g. Finance, HR) and outside experts (e.g. investment banks, consulting firms)

  • Other duties as assigned by the BD team

Experience/skills required

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s degree in Business is preferred

  • Six years of relevant business experience is preferred

  • Previous experience within investment banking, corporate development, private equity or venture capital preferred

  • Strong financial and strategy skills

  • Ability to build relationships with a wide variety of constituents

  • Inclusive and collaborative style

  • Absolute personal integrity and honesty

  • Very hands-on work style

  • Office 365 proficiency required

  • Financial intelligence software (CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, or similar) proficiency preferred


The company will offer an appropriate competitive compensation package consisting of salary and annual performance bonus. Relocation is offered.
