Stryker Compliance Informatics Manager in Kalamazoo, Michigan
Serves as a member of the Corporate Compliance leadership team and is viewed as an Inter-Divisional resource. Responsible for the effective planning and timely completion of tasks and responsibilities which support ethical and compliance business practices within scope of role. These responsibilities may encompass a broad range of areas related to compliance to include, but not be limited to: the application of laws and guidance to many unique business activities and development/implementation of corporate and divisional policies and/or procedures. May support the broader compliance group as a subject matter expert or inter-divisional project leader in one or more key areas, such as: transparency, training, communications, health care professional interactions, grants and donations, indirect sales channels, issues/investigations, high risk third party vendors, risk management, and auditing and monitoring. Makes decisions of minimal to moderate impact and exercises independent judgment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for developing strong relationships throughout area of responsibility to foster an advisory or collaborative approach to proactive compliance
Responsible for managing and supporting the implementation of compliance program plans, tasks and initiatives to ensure push-down throughout the organization
Maintains current working knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations, and periodically reviews and updates standards relating to compliance. These include, but are not limited to our Corporate Policies and Procedures, industry trends and guidance on country, state/provincial or local laws
Makes recommendations to compliance leadership with regard to the development or revision of existing policies, procedures or systems to attain high levels of performance and build competitive advantage and that drives consistency
Incorporates department operating principles into all activities.
May be responsible for the recruitment, selection, training and on-going performance management of one or more direct employees (associate manager and below)
One of the main points of contact, including support and training, for the user community of compliance informatics systems, compliance system vendors, and associated service providers
Analyze user requests and Information Services (“IS”) / vendor requirements to develop and recommend effective solutions that meet the needs of both groups. In collaboration with key stakeholders, including IS, is primarily responsible to ensure effective compliance informatics system design, build, repair and maintenance by accurately capturing and documenting: specific system design and functionality that supports global applications and that promote consistent usage and processes; description and evaluation of enhancement requests, including business requirements and disposition, i.e., declined to pursue, implemented enhancement; Effective end user security practices
Participates as assigned in drafting and revising policies, procedures and work instructions that are a foundational element to a compliance informatics system
Ensure widely accepted application management standards are implemented that support efficient and effective informatics systems functionality, operate 24/7/365 as appropriate; vendor supported applications function as designed and the vendor delivers products and services as detailed in contracts, statements of work, etc.
Incorporate knowledge of regulations, our policies and ethical standards when developing new systems and system enhancements or revisions
Provide direction and support to global compliance informatics system administrators to effectively implement and maintain specific system functionality at their locations
Develop and present relevant metrics for internal use to track performance of the systems and service delivery to the identified user groups and identify opportunities for improvement
Monitoring and reporting
Develop and present relevant compliance / system metrics for internal and external audiences
Support group and division compliance programs in reporting requirements
Administer shared governance, including oversight committees, as applicable
Facilitate consensus on committee charter
Assist with managing action items
Evaluate enhancement requests and provide recommendations regarding whether to proceed or decline the enhancement request
Present information to the committee that is well organized and that effectively communicates system needs and / or recommendations for actions
Perform related work as assigned by the Director, Legal and Compliance Informatics
Education & Special Training:
- Undergraduate Degree required, Graduate Degree preferred.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 5-10 years professional experience, required
