Citizens Bank Solution Architecture Director in Johnston, Rhode Island


The Solution Architecture Director will lead a community of practice of Solution Architects to enable the delivery of cost effective solutions that are aligned with the enterprise architecture and standards, meets our regulatory and compliance requirements and meets or exceeds the goal of the business. This role will incorporate a strong consultant oriented approach working across business and technology teams to execute against a strategy and deliver results.

The Solution Architecture Director will be responsible for:

  • Creation and maintenance of a consolidated technology catalog for estimation and planning and driving project adoption of standards for accelerated delivery of solutions.

  • Overseeing the governance required at applicable stage gates for project delivery.

  • Overseeing detailed design review and ensuring execution against the approved solution design that may involve application/system architecture and process designs for integration of large complex IT solutions.

  • Driving a continuous improvement culture in the cost and time to deliver the technical solutions in our catalog.

  • Identifying needed technical capabilities and influencing the technology strategy & technology investments that will realize the business strategy.

  • Influence vendors & partners.

  • Lead and/or assist efforts to scope and architect major change programs, leading strategic options analysis & proposing end-to-end solutions & highlighting trade-offs.

  • Ensure projects align with strategic capabilities, target architectures & technology standards.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.

  • Seven to 10 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations) in a multitier environment.

  • Demonstrated management of architecture organization and leading virtual teams made up of business and technology resources.

  • Strong communication and influencing skills with business & technology subject matter experts.

  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

  • Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.

  • Knowledge of all components of an enterprise technical architecture.

  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.

  • Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems.

  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize workload

  • Strong communication and influencing skills with business & technology executives (Director of Technology, CTO, COO, CIO, Business Division Leads)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the design, integration and/or support of vendor packages within an overall enterprise architecture.

  • Working knowledge of the Financial Services industry in either Consumer / Retail Banking (e.g. digital transformation, consumer lending) & Commercial Banking (e.g. capital markets, transaction banking).

  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks & industry models (TOGAF, ITIL and BIAN).

  • Experience working in Agile delivery (ie Scrum)

  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.

  • Demonstrated experience of identifying and leading forward process improvements.

Hours and Work Schedule

Hours per Week: 40

Work Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm; Monday - Friday
