Major Duties

Purpose • Perform and document inspections on parts using various metrology devices including but not limited to surface plate layouts, DCC and Manual CMM, vision system, small hand gages and visual inspections, all with great attention to detail, efficiency and accuracy.

General Duties Including but not limited to:

• Effectively supporting and communicating with internal customers (engineering, purchasing, sales, manufacturing) • Record inspection results on various forms. • Interpret engineering drawings including GDT with regards to deciding on appropriate measurement devices/techniques. • Interpret various engineering specifications including filter media specs, material specs, etc. to determine compliance. • Pull random samples from lots (know how to ensure random from a statistical perspective) and perform all associated paper work for processing. • Determine the acceptability of paper work associated with the parts (including vendor inspection reports, material certifications, part certifications, etc.) • Operate various test apparatus to determine part acceptance. (carbon testing, hardness testing, spring testing, etc.)

Perform any other duties and assigned by the Quality Manager or Supervisor.


Education /Experience/Skills and Abilities • Coursework in a technical field including metrology and statistics (certificate of program completion or associates degree preferred) • Certification (in lieu of education): American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Inspector, ASQ Certified Quality Technician • 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably conducting quality inspections • Metrology experience with the associated applied math (geometry/trigonometry). Must be able to interpret engineering drawings with GDT and be familiar with common metrology practices as applied to our broad range of complex geometry parts. Familiarity with measurement devices with respect to accuracy and repeatability is required. Ability to apply basic statistics to sampling, and data analysis is required. • Computer literacy with common applications is required.
