What you’ll do
Design, validate and bring new products to market. Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
Successfully contributes to project teams typically including the following activities: product design and development, materials and/or product testing, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), protocol and report preparation.
Works independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet project timelines.
Designs and coordinates standard engineering tests and experiments. Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results. Prepares test reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community.
Performs troubleshooting on new products/process problems as related to design, material, or process.
Trains and provides work direction to R&D technicians.
Works cooperatively with, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
Interfaces with Physicians/Cath Lab personnel to obtain feedback on concepts and performance of new devices.
Invents/ creates concepts and designs for new products/processes and submits idea disclosures.
This job requires a B.S. degree in mechanical, materials science or biomedical engineering and a minimum of 2 or more years’ experience.
M.S. is preferred and may be applicable towards years’ experience
