Job Title Facilities Manager

Job Description Position overview: This position is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of all facility/property maintenance at the Fowlerville plant and the Fenton plant, as well as managing and developing facility technicians and/or facility techs-in-training.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance all ZF Fowlerville and Fenton facility/property maintenance, including, but not limited to: HVAC equipment, low and high pressure compressed air systems, chilled water systems, cooling towers, sanitary lagoons, fire suppression systems, electrical distribution systems, basic electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs, phone system, installation of new equipment, project work with outside vendors, some camera and alarm work (along with IT), snow removal and/or other outside grounds work

  • Plans utilization of space and facilities consistent with organizational requirements

  • Manage, develop, and cross train facility technicians, including technicians-in-training

  • Evaluate and verify technicians’ work performance and conduct employee performance evaluations

  • Participate on the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team, cost reductions, and project status report for weekly staff meetings

  • Monitor and analyze energy usage

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Respond to plant emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (Examples:air compressor issues or major damage to the facility)

Education Requirements


• Associates Degree in a technical field – or -

• Master certification level in an applicable skilled trade

Work Experience:

• With an Associate’s Degree or Master certification, 2 years of increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment, including supervisory experience – or –

• Seven years of increasing responsibility in a manufacturing environment, including positions involving supervisory experience

•Ability to read and comprehend electrical, mechanical, and other types of blueprints

•Excellent mechanical and electrical trouble-shooting skills, HVAC and air compressor expertise desired

•Strong organizational and planning

•Broad range of experience with health, safety, and environmental regulations and programs

•Participation in, or knowledge of, occupational health and safety management systems, OSHA and ISO14001 programs

•Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills


•Strong leadership abilities

•Ability to manage multiple priorities

•Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office products and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) (Examples: EAM, Maximo)

•Understanding and ability to apply IATF standard

•Thorough knowledge/understanding of electrical, HVAC and MIOSHA regulations


•Familiar with trouble shooting and maintaining compressed air systems

•Prior experience in a team-based management culture


•Annual compliance with Hazardous Materials & Waste Management under Federal and State agencies

•Compliant with RCRA

•Hi-Lo/Scissor Lift License is required

•EPA refrigerant handling certification (preferred)
