Stryker Staff Engineer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
The engineer will develop the requirements, analysis, documentation and test for the integration of system components (software, robotic arm, implants and surgical instruments) to deliver robotic-assisted orthopaedic solutions. Works in close collaboration with the engineering, marketing, quality assurance and program management groups to deliver products for Stryker customers per the product development roadmap. Develop and execute testing using tools such as Matlab or robotic systems and document reports of test data. Furthermore, support the continuous improvement of Stryker product development tools and processes.
Systems engineering principles as it applies to medical device development from concept phase to final design and commercial release
The use of Software Tools (i.e., MiniTab) for statistical analysis.
Matlab and 3D CAD software (Solidworks).
The use of risk management practices applied to medical device development.
Creating design specifications and requirements definition.
Developing test protocols/procedures, collecting and analyzing data, and creating detailed reports.
Be detail oriented with strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Independently implement complex concepts, draft design documentation, plan and conduct relevant tests
Support for the design of architectural concepts under close professional leadership
Support the evaluation of new technologies
Apply processes and Standards
Independently Integrate and administer development tools including required validation
Support maintenance and improvement of engineering methods and practices
Support training and mentoring activities regarding established engineering best practices, design principles, processes and tools
Work with core team to determine project schedules and time commitments of self and other functional project team members and be able to clearly communicate status of assignments to project management.
Investigates novel problems
Design and implement solutions to address identified problems
Represent R&D in cross fucntional programs, provide direction and observations on internal customer objectives as they involve R&D
Work under supervision with surgeon customers in a user setting, clearly communicate design goals and incorporate feedback into designs
Participate in, solicit feedback and document reports as needed on cadaveric evaluations
5+ years of related experience
Medical device and robotics experience within a highly regulated industry
Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or Industrial Engineering
