Supplemental On-Call Quality Inspection Supervisor – Part Time – GM Flint Assembly

Supplemental On-Call Supervisors are part-time employees that are expected to work flexible hours. This includes the ability to work any of our three shifts and weekends. Supplemental employees are not eligible for the GM Benefits Program; however, they are paid a highly competitive rate of pay. This role is not eligible for relocation.

Responsibilities:

Supervise a medium to large group of employees involved with the execution of production schedules and timely flow of materials in the material and/or production control operations. Work performed independently with some direct guidance from immediate supervisor.

  • Monitors quality and cost
  • In Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
  • Interfaces with production and service department personnel on technical production problems
  • Meets production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements

·Knowledgeable of all jobs in work group

  • Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
  • Implements divisional and corporate policies
  • Implements safety and good housekeeping standards
  • Frequent contact with others outside the work group
  • Keeps management informed of developments as they occur
  • Maintains corporate and unit management control systems
  • Maintains department records
  • Executes safe work practices as the highest priority and achieves objectives for ergonomics, health/safety, and housekeeping
  • Maintains awareness to quality standards, communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality problems

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedure
  • Knowledge of basic math
  • High level oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic technology of area where assigned
  • Knowledge of scheduling and other management systems
  • High level analytical ability where problems are complex
  • High level interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, motivate employees and elicit work output
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures
  • Knowledge of computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

Education and Training

  • High school graduate or equivalent training, plus additional training such as that acquired in the first one or two years of technical or business school

Preferred

  • Experience supervising employees in a union environment
  • Experience supervising employees in a manufacturing environment
  • College degree
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
