Position overview:

The manufacturing associate position is responsible for operating assembly machinery and assembling components into a machined valve body. May fabricate, assemble, fit, fasten, install, hand finish and/or test products or perform other hand work such as welding, cutting molding painting and packaging. May also set-up, operate or tend production machinery. May move and/or control the movement of materials, supplies and finished goods to designated locations into and/or within the facility and/or onto vehicles for shipment. May be required to read micrometers and blueprints as well as use gauges. May be required to visually inspect parts. Maintains appropriate records. May interface with and/or contact customers or suppliers. May perform vertical task/job enrichment jobs that are outside the normal scope of direct production tasks. Empowered to initiate corrective actions when problems which impact the quality of the product and/or the quality system are identified.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all personal protective equipment and safety requirements.

  • Ability to operate machinery and perform changeovers, as needed.

  • Assemble components into machined valve body.

  • Reset faults, as appropriate.

  • Perform visual inspections and identify potential quality concerns.

  • Perform lot control and tagging of components, work in process, and/or finished goods.

  • Complete check sheets and reports, as necessary.

  • Retrieve and unpack components and stock the line.

  • Pack parts into dunnage.

  • Operate pallet truck to move material and dunnage.

  • Clean cell and area.

Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Use hand gages and/or other testing devices to perform quality checks


With successful performance, Manufacturing Associates progress over 3 years from $12.00 to $16.35/hour. Applicants who complete a temporary 6 month assignment start at $12.40/hour and progress to top rate in 2 1/2 years.

Education Requirements H.S. Diploma

Experience and Skill Requirements

Work Experience:

• Three months of manufacturing experience required.

• Ability to willingly follow instructions and direction.

• Ability to perform calculations with whole numbers quickly and accurately, without a calculator.

• Ability to read, understand and perceive relevant technical and non technical material.

• Ability to sort objects into sets or categories on the basis of color, size, shape, quality, etc.

• Understanding of and the ability to apply the TS169494/ISO14001 specification, as applicable

Physical demands – ability to:

• Make gross or fine adjustments to parts, machines, vehicles or controls that require coordinating fine or gross finger or hand movement with visual information.

• Stand up to 7 hours out of an 8-hour work day.

• Walk a minimum of 300 feet.

• Lift 1-10 pounds with each hand, continuously.

• Lift 11-50 pounds, occasionally.

• Near vision – ability to see things at close range (within few inches of the observer).

• Reach forward 12-30 inches (below chest height) with 2 hands/arms.

• Reach at or above shoulder level with 2 hands/arms continuously and above shoulder level frequently.

• Bend and/or stoop, frequently.

• Repetitive grip, grasp, squeeze with both hands, continuously.

• Push/pull, or carry material, occasionally.

• Work safely around moving machinery and equipment.

• Wear Electro Static Discharge (ESD) wrist and heel straps when working around ESD sensitive components.

• Make gross or fine adjustments to parts, machines, vehicles or controls that require coordinating fine or gross finger or hand movement with visual information.

• Wear Personal Protective Equipment: gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection.

• Potential exposure to fumes, chemicals – metal working fluid.



• Ability to work any shift.

• Ability to work overtime as needed (up to 12 hours/day 7/days/week)

• Ability to successfully pass urine and hair drug tests

• Ability to pass criminal background checks


• Experience working both afternoon and midnight shift
