These camera- and radar-based technologies assist drivers by providing information and acting on environmental data at the front, side and rear of vehicles to help warn drivers of impending danger. They can also provide intuitive cues or actions such as braking and steering inputs to help “coach” the driver to stay in lane or offer convenience functions like Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking (CMB), Following Distance Indication (FDI), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Centering Assist (LCA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), and Surround View - 360 degree Bird's Eye View with 3D image perspective and integrated safety.
Plan the engineering development: Break down development into work packages and estimate effort associated with work packages, prepare timing plan
Tailor development process to project needs. Prepare other documents, as needed.
Direct day-to-day activities of an engineering development team, including electrical, mechanical, software and validation engineers. Prioritize engineering resources. Make sure engineering deliverables are on-time and meet quality expectations.
Review and approve engineering work products. Own the product design.
Act as the primary technical interface to the customer. Attend customer PDT meetings. Manage and negotiate customer requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations.
Direct and support the build of engineering development samples. Providing the overall product engineering interface to manufacturing. Ensure design for manufacturability, smooth transition into manufacturing (especially for new designs), supporting manufacturing builds, and launch.
Ensure lessons learned are identified and mitigated through the project development lifecycle.
Track issues and defects, prepare 8Ds, present to customer, and ensure timely resolution.
Manage engineering risks. Elevate risks soon enough to apply corrective action. Report status, prepare contingency plans and execute corrective actions.
Manage changes: Estimate cost and timing impact of change requests, negotiate implementation with customer.
Make sure documents and other work products are prepared and stored correctly, and that revisions are managed.
Report development status to management.
Actively pursue cost saving ideas.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
Demonstrated project management skills.
7+ years of electrical engineering experience
Strong Microsoft suite skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of internal clients.
Ability to perform effectively within budgetary guidelines.
Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.
Able to contribute to strong and dependable teams.
Possesses excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. cb
