Tax Analyst/Sr. Tax Analyst – Rotation Opportunity, Detroit, MI

GM Finance is hiring Tax Analysts (mid to senior level) to join our GM Tax team. The Tax Analyst position is designed to rotate through a selection of various functions and groups within the Tax department (Tax Accounting, Tax Compliance, Tax Audits, International Tax, State and Local Tax, Transfer Pricing, Value Added Tax, Customs, and Tax Planning) to provide employees with top-of-the line training and access to industry leading mentorship.

Candidates will be expected to be self-starters who take initiative, can manage projects through to completion, and have strong written and oral communication abilities.

Job responsibilities will be dependent on the functional area, but could include the following:

•Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provision

•Operate Sarbanes Oxley 404 tax controls and support related testing

•Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, including quarterly estimates

•Partner with business units and other departments within Corporate Finance to ensure the accuracy of tax returns and financial statement balances

•Provide support in the review and analysis of proposed and existing tax laws, regulations, and rulings

•Work on special, cross-functional projects

•Build and update tax planning and tax analytic models

•Assist in the management of federal and state audits, including drafting responses to government inquires and analysis of audit workpapers

Required Qualifications

•Professional Certification: Certified Public Accountant and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

•2-6 years of tax experience

•Ability to prioritize assignments and manage work load within statutory and internal deadlines

•Well-developed computer and tax system skills, including, for example, experience with finance enterprise systems and tax provision systems (e.g., SAP, OneSource)

•Demonstrated high levels of productivity and strong performance

Preferred Qualifications

•Professional Certification: Master’s degree in Taxation or Accounting; other advanced degree or training

•Demonstrated effective analytical and problem-solving skills

•Self-motivated, with strong interpersonal, team and partnering skills
