Penske Accounts Payable Lead in Beachwood, Ohio

POSITION SUMMARY:

Penske Logistics is looking for an Accounts Payable Lead to support freight payment within the financial support group to become part of an excellent team. This is a great opportunity for an individual who is self-motivated, has strong analytical and computer skills, strong attention to detail and is enthusiastic to work in a customer-centric environment. This position coordinates all processes and functions of freight payment (AP), final mile network payment and proof of delivery, as well as financial system functions. Candidate must have proven communication with a strong focus on internal and external customer service to meet business needs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Supervisor to determine and achieve time lines for resolution, ability to adapt quickly from one task to another

  • Indirect team management responsibilities delegated by Supervisor or Account manager

  • Act as first/second level escalation for customer and vendor inquiries.

  • Substantial customer and carrier facing responsibility

  • Use multiple systems to review and process carrier freight invoices

  • Audit balance due invoices for accuracy

  • Process and audit LDC network invoices

  • Utilize multiple systems to download, track, retrieve and post proof of delivery copies

  • Adjust financial records in TMS system

  • Support Supervisor on process management activities and customer communication

  • Weekly metrics and reporting; Run metrics and measures to manage process controls

  • Train the team on freight payment activities and update SOP’s periodically

  • Communicate with customer and carriers to resolve issues

  • Work with Supervisor to determine and achieve time lines for resolution, ability to adapt quickly from one task to another

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

  • Maintain Transportation Management systems

  • Respond to internal and external customer inquiries

  • Works with Operations Managers to meet customer expectations

  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

  • Stay current on the customer's industry

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or some college preferred / High school diploma or equivalent necessary

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time sensitive situations in a fast paced environment

  • Advanced computer skills including Excel and Outlook required (Access preferred but not required)

  • Must also be able to learn and regularly operate multiple company and customer owned transportation systems & applications

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment

  • Ability to work First, Second and Third Shift as needed. Flexibility with scheduling required

  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

  • Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
