The Job's Mission
The positions as Financial Controller in the Nordic and Benelux region encompasses the financial support processes related to local finance across the BeneNord region for accounting and reporting, ensuring a “Best in Class” organisation is created and maintained through implementing solutions to further develop, maintain and improve customer satisfaction, internal controls environment, reduce cost and optimised finance processes for the local business.
This role reports to Finance Director: BeneNord and requires a strong partnership with the Finance team in Nordic and Benelux, the EFSSC, the European FP&A team and internal and external auditors across the region in BeneNord.
Key Activities & Accountabilities
Drive actively the financial controlling function for local BeneNord region.
Participate in internal and external audits and set requirements from a local perspective.
Support proactively the EFSSC functions to enable finance to reach set goals.
Monitor regional expenses ensuring any adjustments for accruals for compensation, revenue recognition, rebates, other credit and debit adjustments are properly recorded. Align with the business Controller BNN on the business process.
Act as a role model to ensure that Finance and the rest of the business is in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations and Stryker’s Code of Conduct.

Play an active role in the broader European Finance team as we strive to implement a world class finance function.
Take ownership or participate in projects to further improve finance processes.
Build, liaise and maintain relationships and collaborates with colleagues across functions (Operations, HR, Compliance etc.), divisions (Sales, Marketing) and leadership.
Serve as the main contact person for the P2P and FP&A from a local point of view.
Increase business impact by sharing of expertise, promoting a free flow of information across the organization and building collaborative networks internally and externally .
Champion change, actively share ideas and plans with colleagues, and encourage multiple perspectives to find new and better ways to deliver results.
Manage, plan, coordinate and participate in the internal and external audits in the BeneNord region.
Provide support for annual statutory financial statements processes in the region.
Support EFSSC in proving advice and guidance on country specific accounting and reporting.
Maintain and develop the internal controls framework for the BeneNord region.
Ensure narratives and internal controls are kept up to date.
Responsible for local implementation of corporate finance policies.
Collaborate with the Cash collections team to develop processes and to maximize collection for the region.
Review P&L and Balance Sheet information and identify errors or exceptions for local and UsGaap.
Work actively with tax return submissions and tax calculations for the region.
Check and adjust accruals, prepare journals in collaboration with the SSC.
Flash & Cash Flow commentary submission to Europe in collaboration with the Senior Finance Analyst (FP&A)
Conduct quarterly balance sheet reviews in compliance with the corporate policy.
Actively and hands on participate in the accounting processes assigned to local countries.
Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) related and identified for local finance are monitored and achieved.
Participate in projects and provide support to key stakeholders.
Responsible to maintain and validate the rebate and discount calculations adapted to the different countries.
In cooperation business controller drive the local closing process across the region to ensure quality submissions are provided and deadlines are met.
Manage assigned central projects.
Collaboratively work to set performance objectives, identify specific development goals, monitors own performance and provides appropriate feedback to stay on track.
Actively work with Q12 together with broader finance team.
Actively seeks learning opportunities and encourages sharing of knowledge and expertise to achieve the best possible results.
Act as coach and supervise the accounting analyst in the BNN region.
Drive business analysis and accounting standards
Manage and analyse costs for the region to drive CTG
Build relationships across regions and divisions

Driving the internal and external audit process for BeneNord
Drive and develop the financial controlling function for BeneNord
Drive and finalize projects as per assigned by FD or European CFO
Suggest improvements in processes and spending
Approvals as per company delegation of authority
Full HR responsibility for an accounting analyst
Fluent spoken and written Dutch and English. Any other European language is a plus
Degree in Business and Administration (MBA preferable)
Professional certification in controlling (RC/CIMA/CFA) or studying is a plus
Familiar with US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley
Familiar with a bigger ERP system (such as Oracle or SAP)
Knowledge in Hyperion, Danube, Encompass is a plus
Advanced Excel skills
Proven record of accomplishment in Finance and Controlling including:
Minimum +5 years experience from a qualified finance role
Experience in Medical Device is a plus
Demonstrated success in month end closing, teamwork and change management
Well versed in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Power Point and other relevant software programs
Experience from working in a matrix organization
Experience from an international environment
Strong leadership skills – proven ability to recruit, develop and engage high performing teams
Ability to analyze data and identify a strategic plan based on output
Understands and considers customers, regulatory and legislative issues when making decisions
Builds and maintains relationships with key internal stakeholders and with key clients/customer groups that support and improve effectiveness
