Responsibilities

The Associate Sourcing Manager will support the development and implementation of strategic sourcing activities in assigned suppliers and/or commodities with the goal of obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.

The Associate Sourcing Manager will also support the development and implementation of strategies and projects related to cost reduction initiatives, new product development, supply base optimization and rationalization, quality improvements, risk assessments, and contract negotiations.

Additional responsibilities of the Associate Sourcing Manager include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Support cross functional teams to develop best in class strategic sourcing strategies for assigned suppliers and/or commodities in support of business objectives

  • Support implementations of supplier and/or commodity strategy which will include spend/supply assessments, consolidation strategy, sourcing selection, financial and sourcing analyses

  • Support a contract strategy for suppliers and create, negotiate, monitor and enforce where applicable

  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses. Represent the ‘voice of the supplier’ in the organization

  • Participate in new product launches; lead supplier selection, requests for quotes and insurance that suppliers are clear on product launch deliverables; collaborate with cross-functional teams for successful launch

  • Participate in assuring cost standards are established for annual operating budgets

Qualifications and Work Experience

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management or similar is required for this role. A Master’s Degree or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) is preferred, but not required.

Ideal candidates will also possess the following skills/experiences:

  • 4-8 years of experience in strategic sourcing and supplier development. Equivalent relevant work experience in manufacturing and/or project management may also be considered

  • Engineering experience in a highly regulated manufacturing industry is highly preferred

  • Knowledge and application of supplier contract strategy, negotiations, contractual terms and contract administration

  • Experience in supplier and stakeholder negotiation

  • Project Management experience and solid understanding of project management tools

  • Manufacturing management, manufacturing engineering, buying, production planning or product development experience

  • Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry experience is highly preferred (e.g.: aerospace, automotive)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement strategy and market drivers

  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment

  • Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate difficult concepts to all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office suite of products, especially Excel and MS
